Bad drivers in Buffalo (and wooo new site layout)
Commemorating the new site design and removal of my arbitrary beta tag with a new blog post.
Apparently the thing to do as of late in my area is to drive cars into buildings. Not such a laughing matter really since it has resulted in fatalities, but the frequency that its happening is just nuts. By my count we’re up to 16 incidents in 8 weeks. Yes, sixteen. Begs to question…what the hell is going on? Its not even winter. There’s no ice on the road, no blinding rain, no insane traffic. Most of these incidents are in parking lots, not some high speed chase that results in a car running up into someone’s lawn. Causes (ie, excuses) I’ve read include mistaking the gas pedal for the brake pedal and even citing plain ol’ old age. Whatever the case may be its a crazy trend, with no sign of slowing down at all. One town is even proposing new commercial construction to require mandatory concrete barriers. Its happening that much.
The other day I faced an old man driving straight at me in my lane (wrong lane for him) laying on his horn like I was in the wrong. About a week after that I watched someone make a right turn into the shoulder and continue to drive on the shoulder for almost a mile. Maybe it is just horrible drivers coming out of the woodwork.
My other question is what the hell are they making buildings out of these days, toilet paper? Like I said these are happening in small areas, parking lots and such, where you wouldn’t have alot of room to build up speed. Yet these cars are ripping through brick walls like nothing.
I don’t know what the answer or the ultimate reason is but its scary, scary to the point I’m consciously not sitting near windows or exterior walls in restaurants now if I can avoid it.
